Effects of stress early in gestation on hippocampal neurogenesis and glucocorticoid receptor density in pregnant rats

Highlights • Stress early in gestation increases hippocampal neurogenesis during late pregnancy. • Pregnant females have greater glucocorticoid receptor density in the hippocampus. • Stress decreases CA3 glucocorticoid receptor density in pregnant and virgin females.
