Zusammenfassung: | To examine the incidence and nature of poisonings due to attempted suicide in Iceland and to compare their prevalence to that of other means of attempting suicide. The study was prospective and included all visits due to suicide attempt poisonings to hospitals and health care facilities in Iceland during the twelve-month period from April, 2001, until March, 2002. Information collected included age and gender of each patient, previous poisoning history, time and location of the incident, type and amount of poison, route of exposure, symptoms, treatment and outcome. |
