description | Current paper analyzes the relationship between social renewal and sustainable development. The project Mulheres de Corpo e Alga, dealing with the culture, harvest, processing and sale of products based on compounds extracted from algae in Barrinha de Icapui, a community on the eastern shore of the state of Ceara, Brazil, was analyzed. The qualitative and descriptive research analyzed data from interviews and processed by the content analysis technique and classified according to the axes of social innovation (CRISES, 2004) and classical dimensions of sustainability. The relationship between social innovation and sustainable development revealed that the project may be characterized as social innovation and a project of sustainable development. Consistency existed between the axes and dimensions in spite of the fact that Territory x Social was not evidenced by the discourse of the interviewed. |
