Modeling the competition between alkaline earth cations and trace metal species for binding by humic substances

Binding by humic substances may be a means of controlling the transport of trace metals in environmental aquatic systems. The effectiveness of binding trace metals and alkaline earth cations with fulvic-type humic substances is examined.
