Mechanistic study on toxicity of positively charged liposomes containing stearylamine (SA) to blood components

The interaction of stearylamine (SA) liposome with erythrocyte ghost (EG) or platelets was studied by resonance energy transfer assay. Interaction of SA liposomes with EG or platelets was observed in five millimolar Hepes buffer. Interaction was inhibited in five millimolar Hepes/150 millimolar sodi...

Zusammenfassung:The interaction of stearylamine (SA) liposome with erythrocyte ghost (EG) or platelets was studied by resonance energy transfer assay. Interaction of SA liposomes with EG or platelets was observed in five millimolar Hepes buffer. Interaction was inhibited in five millimolar Hepes/150 millimolar sodium chloride and in the presence of carbomethyl chitin. Carboxymethyl chitin or phagocytosis inhibitors did not affect SA liposome-platelet interaction.
