GENETIC ANALYSIS OF PHENOLOGIC AND PRODUCTIVITY TRAITS IN LENTIL (LENS CULINARIS MEDIK)

description | The 30 F sub( 2) generations obtained from a complete 6x6 diallel crosses along with their parents were used to estimate genetic parameters for grain yield and its related traits in lentil. The genotypes were raised in a randomized complete block design with three replications. Desired characteristics were recorded on either 40 F sub( 2) or 10 parental plants which were randomly selected from each plot. Studied traits were: days to flowering, days to pod formation, days to maturity, maturity period, grain yield, biological yield and harvest index. All the studied traits were significantly different among genotypes at one percent probability level. Sufficient genetic variation was found among genotypes that had been provided to diallel analysis. Gene action was partial dominance for grain yield, days to flowering, days to pod formation, biologic yield and maturity period; but over dominance for days to maturity and harvest index. The highest (70%) and the lowest (28%) amount of narrow sense heritability were observed for maturity period and harvest index respectively. |
