Zusammenfassung:The author has made observations which indicate that the geometrid moth Chloroclysta siterata (Red-green carpet) has a so far unknown hibernation strategy. It seems as the moths mate in the autumn and that only the female survives the winter and then lay her eggs in spring. The most common strategy among Lepidoptera overwintering in the adult phase is for both sexes to hibernate and mate in the spring. Most likely the same strategy is used by the close relative C. miata (Autumn green carpet) also, even if there is no definite observations yet known. The author is interested in all further information concerning these species and their overwintering strategies.
