Oxidative stress induced by copper: defense and damage in the marine planktonic diatom Ditylum brightwellii, grown in continuous cultures with high and low zinc levels
A study investigated the effects of copper-induced oxidative stress on the planktonic diatom Ditylum brightwellii. Pro-oxidant copper caused a decrease of chlorophyll, decreasing photosynthetic oxygen evolution and cell division rates and an increase in the number of deformed cells.
