Zusammenfassung:	Highlights • To establish methodology to assess renal function in Duchenne muscular dystrophy patients. • Serum and urine creatinine measurements are of no value due to the reduced skeletal muscle mass. • Cystatin C based eGFR equations might be an alternative for GFR. • Inverse correlation between measured GFR and age was observed. • High prevalence of hyperfiltration and hypertension indicates subtle kidney damage at young age.
