Maintenance itraconazole for visceral leishmaniasis in hiv infection

The association of visceral leishmaniasis with HIV infection is frequently encountered in southern Europe. The case of a 22-year-old female drug addict with HIV infection admitted to the hospital with pancytopenia and pyrexia and her treatment are discussed.
