Reassessment of the Type-Locality and Synonymy of Physalaemus moreirae (Miranda-Ribeiro, 1937) (Anura: Leptodactylidae)

Physalaemus moreirae was described by Miranda-Ribeiro (1937) based on one specimen currently in the collection of the Museu Nacional do Rio de Janeiro (MNRJ 464). In the original publication, the type-locality was given as "Sorocaba, S. Paulo". The type-locality has consistently been treated as "Sorocaba, Sao Paulo" in the catalogues of amphibians following the original spelling. Upon examination of the holotype of P. moreirae and its labels, we conclude that the type-locality was misspelled in the publication, and that the species is the same as a recently described Physalaemus . In this paper, we present reasons for the reassessment of the type-locality of P. moreirae , and present its synonymy.
