Zusammenfassung:There is no sharp line separating neuroethology from psychobiology, behavioral neurobiology, and similar terms in common use. Species-characteristic behavior is not necessarily purely innate and does not exclude learned behavior or the process of learning, even when the task acquired is artificial or maladaptive. The term neuroethology is used when there is emphasis on or relevance to the understanding of natural behavior.
