Zusammenfassung: | Daily food intake of Arctic charr was determined on three separate occasions using a radiographic method and attempts were made to relate food intake to long-term growth of individual fish. For many individuals food intake differed markedly between the three sampling occasions, but nevertheless, there was found to be a highly significant relationship between average food intake and long-term growth. The results suggest that the radiographic method, which monitors short-term food intake, can be useful in the investigation of food-growth relationships of fish provided that a sufficient number of sampling occasions is incorporated into a long-term growth study. |
