On the Formation of Thetical Shide from the Perspective of Cooptation
Mandarin thetical shide comes from the 'shide' in the event-confirming copulative construction 'X shide' in Pre-Modern Chinese. Its formation is a simultaneous process, which should not be construed as pragmaticalization, but as cooptation. Adapted from the source document
