Methylbutynol effectively replaces methylbutenol, a pheromone component of Ips typographus (L.) (Coleoptera: Scolytidae)

In field experiments in Sweden, the constituent 2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol of the aggregation pheromone of the spruce bark beetle Ips typographus (L.) was effectively replaced by 2-methyl-3-butyn-2-ol.
