Zusammenfassung: | Wastewater treatment and disposal strategies with regards to water quality monitoring study results for Istanbul are evaluated. It is found that level of dissolved oxygen in the lower layer of the Marmara Sea never decreases below 1.0 mg/L and is at the level of 2.0 mg/l. Significant upgrading for bacteriological and physical/aesthetics quality of coastal water are provided with preliminary treatment and marine outfall facilities in Istanbul. Preliminary treatment level of Buyukcekmece wastewater treatment plant must be upgraded to tertiary biological treatment, and preliminary treatment levels of Kadikoy and Baltalimani wastewater treatment plants must be increased to chemically enhanced-primary treatment level until 2020 year. |
