description | Public participation in local air pollution, a citizen participation prototype from Zarqa Governorate of Jordan was studied. Methods for involving public in environment assessment Citizen Jury, Citizen Groups, Planning cells, Focus Groups surveys and public hearing were conducted. The Governmental agencies namely the ministry of Environment and General Cooperation for Environment Protection were argued to establish a data bank for mostly likely all pollution sources, mitigation measures and appropriate technologies. Also, all governmental agencies were responsible for organizing seminars, workshops, and training programmes for different categories of civil communities. It was concluded that a framework for public participation in environment assessment need a great attention and improvement. |
