Unintended consequences of EU policies: Reintegrating gender in European studies

This editorial serves as a brief introduction to the special issue on the unintended gender consequences of European Union policies. It argues that, despite gender mainstreaming and other policy tools designed to encourage gender neutrality in all policy areas, the EU continues to enact and enforce legislation that has the potential to challenge the integrity of the European gender project.
