Zusammenfassung: | The Fusion Energy Sciences Advisory Committee has issued recommendations for restructuring and directing the US inertial fusion R&D effort. Marked progress in this field has been noted over the last decade, particularly in target physics, improved laser systems, and heavy ion accelerator technology. The heavy ion driver is the most promising for energy applications and budgetary increases for relevant research are recommended. Priority should also be given to wall protection and cavity clearance schemes, and to confirmatory simulations of heavy ion driver target performance. |
