Zusammenfassung:Microreactors are a compelling technology for the highly controlled synthesis of colloidal nanocrystals. Use of segmented flow, where the reaction occurs within a train of discrete slugs or droplets, offers important advantages over alternative synthesis methods, including improved reaction control and robust, reliable operation. The Progress Report by John C. deMello and Adrian M. Nightingale describes the operation of segmented flow microreactors, their application to the controlled synthesis of nanocrystals, and the principal obstacles to their successful exploitation.
