Zusammenfassung: | Agroforestry courses offered at the university level have been rather opportunistic, arising in response to demand. Course offerings should be reappraised. Agroforestry research has evolved to the stage where it can supply information about basic issues and management concepts. Among the subject areas pertinent to agroforestry are biophysical and socioeconomic aspects and sustainable land use. Various ecology, agriculture, and forestry concepts are still being shaped for application to agroforestry. Teaching of socioeconomic content needs to incorporate the dynamics of innovation, decision-making, and change. A draft proposal for agroforestry teaching and research at Cornell Univ. is outlined as a model for other institutions. |
