Genetic studies in crosses involving some of the whitebacked planthopper resistant cultivars indicated that resistance in cultivars "PTB33," "ARC14636," and "ARC14766" is governed by a single dominant gene, whereas resistance in varieties "ARC6650" and "ARC14394" is conferred by a single recessive gene.
