A note on the catalytic decomposition of waste sodium hypochlorite solution

Tabulated and graphical results are given of studies showing that the sodium hypochlorite produced as a waste product when gaseous chlorine is scrubbed with alkali can be decomposed in a controlled manner at room temperature using cobalt as catalyst. The resulting chloride solution is non-polluting.
