The structure of the bafilomycins, a new group of macrolide antibiotics

The structure of bafilomycins A 1, B 2, B 1, B 2, C 1 and C 2, produced by Streptomyces griseus ssp. sulphurus has been elucidated mainly by spectroscopic studies. The bafilomycins are macrolide antibiotics with a 16-membered lactone ring.
