Should we abandon the Monod approach for modelling biological treatment processes?

The authors point out the limitations of the Monod model for describing the rate of purification in biological treatment processes, and present a new mathematical model to overcome these difficulties. Some results obtained from application of the new model to various waste waters are summarized.
