Cellulase and xylanase production by Trichoderma reesei Rut C-30

When grown on cellulose or xylan, T. reesei (strain Rut C-30) produced extra-cellular enzymes which could hydrolyze both cellulose and xylan to their respective monosaccharides. At low O sub(2) saturation, beta - glucosidase activity is greatly reduced for cellulose-grown but not xylan-grown cells.
