Zusammenfassung:Microbial analyses carried out during the summers of 1988 and 1989 on water samples containing mucilages revealed an abundance of environmental bacteria, some of which were considered opportunist pathogens. Mucilages touching polluted zones could collect faecal micro-organisms, however they represented an adverse substratum for enteric bacteria because of biological competition exerted by environmental bacterial flora.
