Zusammenfassung:The plant communities of the Fagaras Mts. in the Southern Carpathians studied between 1936-1974 have been described. 12 classes, 18 orders, 32 alliances and 74 associations are distinguished. Two new orders (Festuco-agrostietalia and Rhododendro-Pinetalia mugi ) and four endemic associations (Festucetum amethystinae transsilvanicum, Festucetum versicoloris transsilvanicum , Festucetum saxatilis and Seslerio bielzii-Caricetum sempervirentis ) are characterized. Two new peat-bog communities (Eriophoretum scheuchzerii and Eriophoretum vaginati dacicum ) were found in Fagaras Mts. The biomass production and the nutritive value of the meadow communities are calculated.
