Additive-pulse mode locking of a diode-pumped Nd3+:YVO4 laser

We demonstrate self-starting additive-pulse mode locking of a diode-pumped Nd:YVO4 laser. Pulse durations of 2.7 ps are measured at a repetition frequency of 90.7 MHz and at an average output power of 1.1 W. This corresponds to a peak power of 4.5 kW.
