description Superduplex stainless steels are characterized by a biphasic structure of austenitic islands dispersed in a ferritic matrix and intermediate characteristics between these phases, which has a great influence in the excellent mechanical properties of steels. In this work the microstructural changes in superduplex 2507 steel, were evaluated emphasizing interfaces and mechanical properties when the samples were subjected to tensile tests in different conditions of pre-strain. For microstructural analysis of variance was used for Scanning Electron Microscope. From the results obtained showed that the grains of ferrite phase deform to a greater percentage than that of austenite and the pre-plastic deformations do not improve the mechanical properties of the material. The slip bands are perpendicular to the applied load and are formed in the ferrite grains and a few grains of austenite. The slip bands are responsible for the rupture of the material, as they responsible for the separation grain from the ferrite block and the way the crack for fracture interface is inhibited by alpha / gamma , following the contours alpha / alpha and gamma / gamma to the rupture of the material.
