SAVOIR AND FAIRE IN THE ANGLO-NORMAN VOYAGE OF ST BRENDAN

Benedict's poem "Voyage of St Brendan" is examined. The story is presented on two distinct levels: as an adventure in which Brendan and his monks spend a considerable time at sea and as a journey that is clearly a spiritual one.
