Zusammenfassung:	Results are presented from the development of an automated frequency-controlled electric drive for a machine that samples blast-furnace gas. The gas is sampled by moving a hollow test pipe (probe) across the diameter of the furnace and stopping it at N prescribed points. A synchro is used as the transducer to track the movement of the pipe.
