description | Other pesticide-related review articles included a review of recent toxicological and environmental fate information related to fipronil (Gunasekara et al., 2007) and a review of research on DDT residues and bioaccumulation in the wetlands of Turkey (Ayas, 2007). Other broad field studies and/or surveys included assessments of the following: drainages of the Mesa Central, Mexico and the anthropogenic impact on the endangered fish, Zoogoneticus quitzeoensis (Dominguez- Dominguez et al., 2007); organochlorine pollutants in the surface waters of the Krivoklatsko Biosphere Reserve, Czech Republic (Koci et al., 2007); dioxins in four different regions of Mexico (Canedo-Lopez and Macios- Zamora, 2007); metal bioaccumulation in fish tissue from the River Kabul, Pakistan (Yousafzai and Shakoori, 2007); mercury bioaccumulation in fish from the Petit-Saut Reservoir and the Sinnamary River in the Amazonian basin (Dominique et al., 2007); metals in Phayao Lake in Northern Thailand (Tupwongse et al., 2007); trace metals in water and mudfish (Clarias gariepinus) after dredging in the Ikpoba River, Nigeria (Obasohan et al., 2007); biomarkers for of persistent organic pollutants in chub (Leuciscus cephalus L.) along eight tributaries of the River Elbe, Germany (Havelkova et al., 2007); and cold-water pollution effects on Murray Cod populations downstream of the Hume Dam, Australia (Sherman et al., 2007). Exposure to copper sulfate, hydrogen peroxide, pentachlorophenol, or P-naphthoflavone resulted in characteristic patterns of gene expression that were chemical-specific. |
