Zusammenfassung:Practitioners, researchers, and students alike will find this volume (see record 1994-98248-000) interesting and rewarding. Discussions of the etiology, pathogenesis, course, and treatment of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and obesity are presented in a clear and concise manner, providing a broad survey of the eating problems without overwhelming the reader. In each chapter, individual contributors provide their expert knowledge and insight concerning their respective areas. Although psychological aspects are emphasized in several chapters, the complex, multidetermined nature of maladaptive eating behavior is examined, and sociocultural, familial, environmental, biological, and genetic factors are presented as possible precursors and vulnerability factors. Discussion questions at the end of each chapter serve to help the reader to integrate the authors' ideas and opinions and to examine possible paths for furthering research in the area. Thus this volume can serve as a valuable addition to upper-level undergraduate and graduate psychopathology courses. (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
