description What is the role and contribution of nursing education research in informing approaches to sustaining and advancing the profession of nursing in a new world order? Are we ahead of the curve in advancing our knowledge for what comes next? To inform these large and existential questions, we asked mid-career scholars Dr. Patrick Lavoie and Dr. Christine Ou for their vision of how this journal can advance the science of nursing education. Their interviews are published in this issue of the journal, and although they did not collaborate on their projections, there is remarkable agreement between their insights into pressing issues of the day and what is needed to advance our science. They share provocative insights into how artificial intelligence and technology influence critical thinking and future inquiry, as well as the role of the journal in disseminating knowledge and research into the future.
