description The ability of students to solve problems is one of the important abilities to make students the element of engineering in science education because it can support students in the process of learning and application of science so that students are able to solve problems that exist around them. One way to apply the element of engineering in science learning is with the use of EDP, which will allow the student to develop the ability to solve problems in the student’s daily life. Learning by applying EDP will enable students to experiment and make improvements in an exciting learning atmosphere, starting from asking questions, thinking about solutions, planning, making prototypes, testing prototyping, and making improvements. The study aims to describe the progress of high school students’ problem-solving ability through applying EDP to pressure materials. This research uses an intervention design method with a one-group design pretest-posttest and is carried out in SMP Negeri 30 Surabaya with samples used as research subjects, namely Class VIII C selected with purposive sampling techniques. The results of the study on the improvement of the problem-solving ability of high school students on substance pressure materials through the application of EDP were dominated by students in the medium improvement category with a percentage of 61%, and the t-test results in pairs showed sig values .000. This study concludes that there is a significant difference in the improvement of student problem-solving ability before and after the learning process by applying EDP in science learning.
