Conservation status, distribution, species richness, and diversity of the avifauna in the coffee agroforestry of Kalipuro were analyzed. A total of 27 avifauna species found were least concerned with IUCN status and showed a high potential for ecotourism development, e.g. avitourism. Two of the species are nationally protected by the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry, i.e. Hydrornis guajana (The Javan banded pitta) and Pernis ptilorynchus (The crested honey buzzard). The last mentioned is a migrant bird that headed to the nearest Bali Island area. We also found Halcyon cyanoventris (Javan kingfisher) that were easily captured by photographers and endemic to Java and Bali Islands. We found a higher diversity in the Secang sub-village and more attraction for migrant avians. The avitourism in coffee-based agroforestry Kalipuro has the potential to be developed as a part of sustainable ecotourism. Diverse attractive avifauna needs to be explored, managed and concerned better for avitourism development. |
