description The present study involves the synthesis and characterization of complexes of [Cr(III), Fe(III), Co(II), and Ni(II)] with Schiff base and L-proline using 4-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde and 4-aminoantipyrine as reactants. The complexes were characterized using various spectroscopic techniques such as infrared and UV-Vis spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, melting point and conductivity measurements. The formulated complexes are [M(L)(Pro) 2 ]Cl, where M = Fe(III),Cr(III), and [M(L)(Pro) 2 ], where M = Co(II), Ni(II). The ligands Schiff base and L-proline were found to act as bidentate chelating agents. L-Proline coordinates with the amine group’s carboxyl group and nitrogen atom, while Schiff base coordinates through the nitrogen and oxygen atoms. The complexes have been assigned an octahedral geometry based on electronic spectral and magnetic moment studies. Furthermore, the results of the biological activity of the complexes and ligands showed good results against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
