STUDIES ON ANTI-OBESITY ACTIVITY OF METHANOLIC EXTRACT OF GARDENIA RESINIFERA ROTH IN TRITON X-100 INDUCED OBESITY

In the current study, we wanted to evaluate Gardenia resinifera potential to prevent obesity in Triton X-100 induced rats. The efficiency of the common anti-obesity drug atorvastasin (10 mg/kg b.wt.) was compared to that of the methanolic extract of Gardenia resinifera (MEGR), which was synthesized...

description In the current study, we wanted to evaluate Gardenia resinifera potential to prevent obesity in Triton X-100 induced rats. The efficiency of the common anti-obesity drug atorvastasin (10 mg/kg b.wt.) was compared to that of the methanolic extract of Gardenia resinifera (MEGR), which was synthesized and tested at different doses (50 mg/kg, 100 mg/kg,). The serum levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoproteins (LDL), and very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) all significantly (P 0.05) dropped when MEGR was administered along with Triton X-100, but high-density lipoproteins (HDL) rise. We demonstrate that MEGR has potential anti-obesity activity based on our findings.
