Zusammenfassung: | Waxy Siger rice is analog rice made from waxy cassava which has a low glycemic index so that it can be consumed by diabetics. Diabetics also have the potential to suffer dyslipidemia related to the influence of insulin in lipid metabolism. This study aimed to find out the effect of siger rice from waxy cassava on the lipid profile of mice induced by alloxan. This study used 24 male mice which were divided into 4 groups, namely control (healthy and fed AIN 93M), I (induced alloxan 140 mg/kg BW intraperitoneally and fed AIN 93M), II (induced alloxan 140 mg/kg BW intraperitoneally and fed siger rice), and III (induced alloxan 140 mg/kg BW intraperitoneally and fed IR-64 rice). After the mice indicated diabetes, the feed was given for 28 days and then the mice blood serum was taken to observe the levels of total cholesterol, triglycerides, High-Density Lipoprotein (HDL), and Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL). The results showed that siger rice had a significant effect on total cholesterol, triglyceride, and LDL levels. Mice fed waxy siger rice (II) had HDL levels that were not significantly different from healthy control mice. Mice fed waxy siger rice (II) also had the lowest total cholesterol, triglyceride, and LDL levels than diabetic mice fed a standard diet (I) and IR-64 rice (III). |
