description The demolition of buildings needs special attention due to the complex, risky planning and implementation processes. The complexity of demolition is caused by variations in building characteristics, selecting methods and equipment, and the treatment of waste materials, which can impact the environment and worker safety. The final result of the demolition process primarily produces construction waste which is usually directly disposed of in the final disposal site (landfill). In some developed countries, demolition waste is appropriately managed so that it can be reused or recycled to extend the life cycle of the waste material. This study aims to propose a framework model for the demolition stage to become a green deconstruction process in Indonesia, which is able to maximize the conservation of construction resources through the extension of the material cycle. The proposed framework combines planning process with Just-In-Time (JIT) delivery, Building Information Modelling (BIM) and GIS. Together with those concepts, the framework also applies 3R principle (reduce, reuse, recycle) and environment monitoring system using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to achieve its main target: to have efficient deconstruction process. The framework ensures quality used or recycled material available from another project by helping building owners to select suitable methods and equipment of deconstruction. Government regulation shall be enforced to encourage new construction projects to use recycled material or reuse deconstruction material from other building projects. Afterwards, this green deconstruction framework can be applied in Indonesia and adapted by other countries based on their local environment, nature, and culture.
