description | Population migration within the global context is part of a group of various processes that result in significant changes in social, demographic, and economic structures. Currently and in the recent past, global migration flows have been mainly influenced by reasons such as armed conflicts, whether in Ukraine or in third-world countries. The presented contribution provides an overview of statistics on both legal and illegal migration of third-country nationals worldwide and within the European Union (referred to as the „EU"), as well as at the national level. Additionally, we offer a glimpse into our own experience in providing social assistance to Syrian citizens through the Crisis Intervention Center in Skalica in October 2023. |
