Zusammenfassung: | Modification of bitumen received major attention by all pavement engineers as it binds the pavement materials in flexible pavements. In the present article the characteristics of modified binder with Polypropylene granules (PPG) in different proportions like 1,3,5, and 7 percentages by weight of bitumen and performance of mixture with modified binder and partial replacement of filler with Rice Husk Ash (RHA) by 25 and 50% were studied. From the composition results of modified PPG there is substantially increase in asphaltenes percentage thus improving the molecular weight. Mixtures prepared with modified binder were evaluated for Marshall parameters, Indirect tensile strength and Tensile strength ratio. From the results the modified binder mixtures have slightly elevated values of Marshall parameters, Indirect tensile strength and Tensile strength ratio. OBC obtained as 5.3% of bitumen and 4.3% of PPG by weight of bitumen. Further the mixtures with modified binder and Rice husk ash (RHA) have delivered better mix density, stability and moisture susceptibility when compared with other mix combinations thus mixtures prepared with PPG and RHA modification has promising results when compared with base mix combinations in the study. |
