description The development of new prolonged and ecologically-safe antibacterial and disinfectants is one of the most urgent tasks for pharmaceutical biotechnology and modern veterinary medicine. A large medicine arsenal, especially irrationally and unreasonably used, poses a threat to both the environment and human health. Biophysical methods can be used as a reliable tool for objective registration and obtaining comparable results. Nucleic acids can be considered as a marker of the infectious process dynamics. The aim of our study was to test luminescent spectrum assay as a method for assessing of the gastrointestinal tract cells state in agricultural poultry with salmonellosis. Using the developed us by technique, using ethidium bromide as a biological marker, the infected with salmonella chickens demonstrated a decrease in the amount of DNA in the cells since the third day after infection. Maximum decrease in indicator was fixed at the 6th days after infection. On the 7th day after infection, a slight increase in the indicator value was noted, which was changed by a systematic decrease until the observation period completion. By the 30th day of life, the quantitative content of DNA in epithelial cells of chickens’ proventriculus in experimental poultry group was less than in the intact poultry by 62.3%. Thus, the functional activity of the cells during the period increased by 34.7%. The data obtained allow us to suppose that the proposed method of luminescence spectral analysis using the fluorescent dye "Ethidium bromide" can be used to assess the functional status of epithelial cells of the poultry gastrointestinal tract and therefore contribute to the production of environmentally friendly poultry products.
