According to treatment guidelines of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, removal of the obstructing mycelial mass by surgical or endoscopic means is strongly recommended.6 Although culture results revealed that the C glabrata was susceptible-dose-dependent to fluconazole, use of fluconazole alone was likely to be insufficient due to the fungal ball in the bladder.
