Seasonal changes in the marine benthic diatom populations of southeast coast in the Kattumavadi region of Tamilnadu, India

Studies on the seasonal variations in the occurrence of marine benthic diatoms in the southeast coast of Kattumavadi, Pudukkottai District that considerable degree of species diversity. Besides this, benthic diatoms and flora were found to show changes related to the environment gradients and seasons. The species diversity was found to show richness in both monsoon and post monsoon periods, after wards they declined gradually as reflected by the high dominance index factor during premonsoon.
