description Agricultural crops are grown in large quantities and agricultural biomass residues are remained from this production in Turkey. In this study, biomass residues amount was calculated from the arable field crops and horticultural fruit production in Turkey and its spatial distribution map was developed according to provinces in Turkey. The potential energy values of these biomass residues was also calculated for Turkey. With the study, the potential provinces that could establish a biomass energy plant were identified. According to TUİK [13], theoretical biomass potential which was obtained from arable field crop production waste was about 50.9 Mton.dm, while theoretical energy potential was 853.3 PJ and available energy potential was about 291.8 PJ, respectively. Theoretical biomass potential obtained from pruning residues in horticultural fruit production was about 4.7 Mton.dm, and theoretical energy potential were 85.7 PJ, and available energy potential was about 68.5 PJ. The total theoretical biomass potential which was obtained from both field crop and horticultural fruit was 55.6 Mton.dm, theoretical energy potential was 939.0 PJ (22,425.5 ktoe), available energy potential was 360.3 PJ (8,604.8 ktoe). When the biomass residue map and the energy values that can be obtained from biomass waste observed, the provinces which have over to 1 million tons solid waste biomass potential were Konya, Şanlıurfa, Adana, Diyarbakır, Mardin, Ankara, Manisa, Hatay, Tekirdağ, Edirne, Mersin, Aydın, Osmaniye, İzmir, Eskişehir and Kahramanmaraş respectively.
