description Stainless steel clad plates have been gradually applied in the areas required for both good mechanical properties and corrosion resistance effects, but welding technology is still playing a limiting role in its further large-scale application. The aim of this paper is to review the welding status and future prospective of stainless steel clad plates so as to offer a basis for following research. The paper carefully discussed the welding issues of stainless steel clad plates from three aspects of conventional multi-layer and multi-pass welding, high efficiency welding, and welding finite element simulation, respectively. And simultaneously, the relevant future works were planned too.
