description This article discusses two "opinion articles" that were written in the format specified by the National High School Examination (ENEM) of two deaf students. They participated in the "Writing Course for the ENEM" that was implemented during Barbosa's Master's research (2016) and delivered online as Distance Education (DE). It made use of Dias (2004) "Pedagogical Model of Written Production" in the process of creating the DE writing activities to guide deaf students in the task of producing their own "opinion articles". Some special features of deaf students' writing process in Portuguese as a Second Language (PSL) are also discussed. Results showed that the stages proposed by Dias model provided deaf participants with in-depth knowledge about the theme they had to write about, besides assisting them in the textual and lexical-grammatical organization of "opinion articles" in Portuguese.
