Zusammenfassung:A study is presented which determines the differences in outcomes to primary infants born through trial of labor (TOL) vs. cesarean delivery on maternal request (CDMR). Many women were opting to deliver via cesarean section, despite lack of medical indications, citing the rise of the procedure in New York. Cesarean sections have always been useful forms of surgical intervention for difficult deliveries, however, they are still surgical procedures and are associated with risks to both mother and infant. The study found out that with respect to newborn outcomes, TOL appeared to be the preferred mode of delivery compared with CDMR.
